Syros Island – GR

The compositional choices and custom-made furnishings pay homage to the elegance of neoclassical architecture, creating an intimate, sophisticated, and welcoming space. Designed specifically for the project, the custom-made elements seamlessly integrate into the architecture, enhancing the sense of harmony and proportion. The marble floors and earthy palette lend continuity to the spaces, evoking a timeless elegance that recalls the authentic character of the island.

The project involves a refined apartment on the Greek island of Syros which, thanks to the project curated by Arke Design Studio, reinterprets the historical legacy of the place through a contemporary language capable of combining memory, material and atmosphere.

One of the most distinctive aspects of the project is its constant connection with the surrounding landscape. The large windows and balcony overlook the port and the historic shipyard of Syros, echoing the island’s profound maritime identity. On the opposite side, a carefully designed window transforms the view of the ancient city into an integral part of the composition, establishing a continuous dialogue between interior and exterior.

The interior design revolves around a concept of fluidity and balance: each space retains its own identity, while interacting with the others through clean lines, balanced proportions, and a coherent use of materials. From the sleeping area to the living spaces, the living experience is fluid and natural.

The apartment thus offers an authentic portrait of Syros: a place where history and modernity coexist in balance, through a project in which every detail is designed to create an elegant, personal home that is destined to last over time.

In this balance between material research and contemporary sensibility, the choice of Ritmonio solutions also contributes to defining the character of the project, integrating into the architectural style of the home. The Diametro35 and Diametro35 Cross collections, both selected in the sophisticated Brushed Dark Bronze finish, interact with the warm palette of the interiors and the tactile presence of natural materials, enhancing the intimate and refined atmosphere of the spaces.

The choice of a freestanding bathtub column is particularly dramatic, conceived as a true architectural element within the bathroom. Its sculptural presence complements the tub’s design without overpowering it, transforming the daily ritual of personal care into an immersive and contemplative experience. Placed in a space dominated by authentic materials and soft lighting, the faucet thus takes on a central role, not only functional but also expressive.

The geometric purity of the Diametro35 series introduces a clean, contemporary feel, while the cross-shaped controls of the Diametro35 Cross line add a subtle nod to classic style, reinterpreted through a contemporary aesthetic. The contrast between the marble surfaces, the earthy tones, and the depth of the bronze finish creates a refined interplay of visual balances.
